My Favorite 15 (I think) Songs of 2009

I want to preface this by mentioning that not all of these songs are actually FROM 2009, but that they’re songs that I played a whole lot, so they get mentions. Without further ado, my 2009 musical trip down memory lane favorite songs that I played constantly, annoying my family, because I’m evil.

Glitter in the Air -- There was a pretty sad part of my year where things just seemed a bit, uh… hopeless. “The breath before the kiss and the fear before the flames,” was dorkspirational, what can I say?

Yellow -- Sometimes you just need someone to sing a song to you. This was mine… to me. If you don’t have a song to you, from you, get one. Now.

Voodoo -- Its a belly dance thing. That’s all I’m sayin. Thanks to Durrah for sending me the link ;)

Shake It -- Its just a fun song to dance to in the kitchen, while doing homework & making dinner.

Carolina Liar -- I just liked it, ok?

Her Diamonds -- Great song, until you realize Rob Thomas is pretty much saying, “hey, sorry you’re sad, but I’m clueless so I’m just gonna make a sandwich or something, k?”

I Write Sins Not Tragedies -- Awesome song and weirdly awesome video.

Drops of Jupiter -- If you were paying attention, this was one of those songs that was haunting me for a few months. It was everywhere. Great song, and I think I get the message now.

And tell me, did you fall for a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar
And then you missed me
While you were looking for yourself?

All Through the Night -- 2009 was the year I remembered how much I adore Cyndi Lauper, and more than that, this version of my favorite CL song with Shaggy. F’in awesome.

Carlton Dance -- ANYTIME you need a pick-me-up, just play this. Plus, this version has Will Smith. Drool. (the dance starts at 1:08)

Lal Lal Hoton Pe -- From Moves in Curves, its like the Carlton Dance, only Bollywood.

Back Again (16 frames) -- I just love this band. I want to hug them and pinch their cheeks, thereby rendering me completely out of their demographic, but whatever.

Use Somebody -- No apologies for this one, either. Its a fucking awesome song and KOL… well, wow. I really liked the Paramore version, too.

Blow Away -- I have a tiny crush on Alison and this song is so much fun to sing. I really like the whole Bomb in a Birdcage album.

Paparazzi -- Hannah Montana v.666

And there you have it. 15 songs for 12 months of a year ending with “9.” Rock on.
