Mothering the New Mother – I’m not quite finished with it yet, but I am astounded by a few facts that this book brings up: PPD can be triggered by weaning, especially very quick weaning, the exacerbation of PPD due to sleep difficulties/sleep deprivation (ok, I figured that was true, but to actually read it made me gasp) and finally, that not a lot of birth practitioners mention PPD during the course of a pregnancy. It kind of stands to reason that a new mother may want to have that information before she gives birth, just to have in the back of her head… so she doesn’t feel alone and knows its ok to speak up.
