My baby boys are back in school. Enigma rolled his backpack into his class without even a second glance back at us. Talker got on his first bus since Kindergarten to begin his middle school life. The only thing that saved me from weeping as the Twitches and I walked back home was Sunshine’s tears for her brothers’ absences.

I feel her pain. This morning was really hard. Next year, it will be all four kids. There is something much easier about the impossible pre-school years, when butt wiping and tantrums are contained within our realm of expertise. Even the kids that go to daycare, its still somehow different changing from a daycare environment to “letting them go”… to school. It is much like releasing them to the wolves, at least on the first morning they go. Maybe tomorrow will be easier.

Now, I have 600 appointments each week, plus my own school commitments. Plus work. Plus sanity breaks (somehow). I need another road trip.

Oh, yeah, and a raccoon pooped on the deck.

So I’ll be holding my own breath right up ’til the end
