My eldest son takes fencing lessons at our community center, my newest mecca. He loves it, he gets to play with swords and fight people, and he’s pretty good at it. Last night, I took him to his class. He was the only boy out of five students. The rest were 14-15 year old girls who came into the class giggling, but as soon as they put on their gear, they were hardcore fencers. (They beat the snot out of him, and I couldn’t help but smile.) Fencing, I’m told, was once dominated...
