Really, this is all about the conservatives, so liberals, please grab your lattes and go sit under the great Socialist umbrella near the pool.

President Obama reversed the restrictions on stem cell research today. Nancy Reagan supports his decision. Does that seem strange? Its the lines that are blurring as politics crosses over into personal experience, and in this case, the possibility of saving another person from a debilitating disease. This is much like Dick Cheney’s daughter, and the apparent “conflict of interest” that their Thanksgiving table must be.

Personally, I love it. I think its time for the conservatives to break away from the “old school” party thoughts and realize that the world is a different place than it was 20 years ago. They need to embrace the changes that are around us. There are homosexuals in the military, and no matter how many movies you boycott in order to prove your hetero status, eventually, a lesbian will serve you some fries with that crow. Women do have the ability to not only think rationally, but to also make rational choices about birth control, eliminating the tragedy of the single mother. Religion has no place in government, and the world isn’t spiraling into an abyss of brimstone because kids aren’t forced to pray in school. They’re learning that everyone is different, and that different is good, and eventually, they will bring home their new bisexual, atheist, vegan best friend and you will have to grin and bear it because your own lines are blurring.

Enjoy it while it lasts. I’ll be sitting under that wacky umbrella with my friends, sipping martinis and laughing as the conservatives crumble, and a newer, fresher, sparklier, kinder, GENTLER entity of politics takes its place.
