For some reason, because of election day, our schools choose to close for 2 days in early November. I’m ASSuming its so they can certify the voting machines, set up tables, etc., but DAMN, this is inconvenient. So, this is officially the longest weekend ever, since the Husband is out of town and I have no backup.

I was talking to a friend last night who said that she remembers being in school while people voted – that we just stayed away from the gym, auditorium, etc. I remember that, too. Are kids really that much of a distaction to the voting process? Wouldn’t it make more sense to let them witness from afar the fun we get to have?

I guess not. But, I’m going to take all 700 of my kids with me anyway, because nothing says “I’m not cut out for homeschooling” like taking a group of kids to vote with you. No, I don’t homeschool – mad props to those who DO, though.

Speaking of mad props, I also have to extend them to my single mom friends. Seriously, I already support your political barriers to happiness, but I can honestly say that I am more than impressed with how many women take on the challenge to be single with kids. Its a tough road, and again, single moms (and dads!!) aren’t given the credit they deserve at all.

Not that I’m not enjoying my independence just a little bit… but actual conversation that doesn’t revolve around Zoo Tycoon would be nice. I’ve even been considering… gack… CALLING people. Melia doesn’t do phones. I may need an intervention.
