Do I have your attention now?

Mamma Mia was really cute. I’m a dork for musicals, though, so I might be biased… slightly.

Ok, so Meryl Streep. Amazing, who knew she could sing (shut up, haters!)? I’m inspired to buy overalls and grow my hair out again.

Amanda Seyfried… she is just adorable and I almost got my “Big Love” fix from watching her (come on, January 2009!)

So, really, I’m not reviewing the movie because, that’s lame. I just wanted to post pics ;)

The thing that really got me thinking during this movie was the portrayal of women. (Well, of course it did, Melia, because that’s all you think about lately!) We see the young daughter and her friends all dancing and singing because they’re full of life and energy. Then we see the older women all dancing and singing because they’re full of life and energy. What amazing lives!! Then it hits…

Neither of these groups have children under the age of 18.

No wonder they’re dancing and singing! The “in the trenches” moms are all watching this movie, saying to themselves, “I used to be like that!” and “I can’t wait to be like that again!” and then the lights come up and their reality sets in as they realize they still have to get milk from the store.

I want to see a movie where there is a baby-slinging momma dancing around the house, looking beautiful and having fun! Can you imagine it? No, of course not, because the reality of motherhood isn’t beautiful and fun. Its only fun after your kids can take care of themselves (according to the movies… don’t hurt me!). I love my kids, but we clearly don’t have enough fun. I’m considering writing my own musical, complete with euphemisms for body parts and fart sounds. I’m fun like that :)

Anyway, that’s all I really had to say about it. Great chick flick, great music, fabulous boots, pretty ladies and a few hot guys! Don’t bring your kids, though, they’ll totally ruin the fun ;)
